Mumbai Strikers comfortably registers a 3-1 win against GM Police

Mumbai Strikers battered GM Police 3-1 on Tuesday evening in their Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) Super Division clash at St. Xaviers Ground, Parel.

Abhijit Shetty opened the scoring early in the first half. Ryan John made it 2-0 on the 26 minutes before star striker Ravish D’Souza put the game beyond any reach for GM Police after a looping header on 48th minute.

A poor decision from Referee gave GM Police a good chance to cut short the deficit. The Referee pointed towards the spot which was a horrendous decision. Panier Selvom stepped up and converted it.

Mumbai Strikers who came into the match on the back of a hard fought win against Income Tax continued their fine run of form. This statement was justified on the 11th minute itself when Abhijit Shetty calmly finished his shot into the back of the net to give Mumbai Strikers a deserving lead.

Fifteen minutes later, Ryan John’s sublime strike put Mumbai Strikers in the drivers seat as they went into the break with a two goal lead.

In the second-half, it took Mumbai Strikers just three minutes to increase their lead.

Ravish D’Souza headed it perfectly to score Mumbai Striker’s third goal.

On the 58th minute, Ravish D’Souza could have scored his second but his curling shot went over the bar.

Mumbai Striker’s Amit Singh shot was saved twice by Rishikesh Sawant from the line.

Ravish D’Souza was having a tremendous day. He made a fantastic cross into the box which found Arsalan Hamdulay, who headed it over the bar.

With three minutes left, GM Police pulled one back through Panier’s penalty. It proved to be the last piece of the action as Mumbai Strikers registered a comfortable win.
