Mumbai Strikers become Champions of 1st Division after Thumping 4-1 Win over Millat FC
Mumbai Strikers got crowned the 1st Division Champions of MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) on 18th April, 2015 after they defeated Millat FC ‘A’ 4-1, on Xavier’s Ground ‘Parel’ with the entire crowd cheering for them.
Mumbai Strikers had a whole cheering squad who were encouraging the players every time a striker moved closer to Millat FC goalpost. Akshay Devadiga was leading the attack for Mumbai Strikers. His attempts paid off in the 16th minute as he dribbled past Millat FC goalkeeper, Anas Shike and made the ever important last touch.
The 2nd goal for Mumbai Strikers came in the 28th minute, after a corner kick reached Ravish D’souza and he headed it for the second goal.
The next goal came with the start of second half, the 3rd goal blow for Millat FC again was by Ravish D’souza. With just a goal required to score his hat-trick Ravish D’souza became more lethal. The score changed to 4-0 in the 48th minute by Abhijit Shetty and Millat FC still failing to score.
Goalkeeper Anas Ishke, was the savior for Millat FC ‘A’. Minutes before the second half would have come to an end, Ghulam Khan scored the grace goal for Millat FC ‘A’. As the final whistle blew, Mumbai Strikers had become the new Champions of MDFA 1st Division 2014-15 defeating Millat FC ‘A’ 4-1.
Ravish D’souza bagged the Best player of the League award and the crowd ran into the field to celebrate. While Millat FC ‘A’ became the Runners Up and Goregaon SC came in the 3rd place with the 1st Division coming to a wonderful end.
Hard work of all, firstly all the players, Referee’s for conducting the matches fair and square, MDFA officials and the amazing spectators enjoying a Weekend Football Match brought the end to the finale of the 1st Division League Season.
