Mumbai Strikers and Cheeda Nagar settle for 0-0 draw

Mumbai Strikers and Cheeda Nagar missed many chances and had to settle for 0-0 draw in the 1st division match held at St Xavier’s, Parel on 31st March 2015. Both the teams played in a fierce manner in order to score a goal for their teams.

The first half of the match was under the control of Mumbai Strikers who got many chances and free kicks but failed to score.

The first few minutes were good for Mumbai Strikers as they got many free kicks with the players of opponent teams fouling their players.

In the 5th minute Mumbai Striker’s Rakesh Pathe got a pass from a midfield player but he failed to score. He shot the ball from close range and the ball went above the cross bar. It was an important chance that would put his team in lead.

In the 11th minute Mumbai Striker’s Pranav Manek got a chance to score but he failed. He received a pass from a left winger but failed to shoot it on the target.

In the 16th minute free kick was granted to Mumbai Strikers but they failed to score. It was due to the lack of co-ordination among the players who passed in wrong direction.

The next few minutes of had slow pace and the ball only passed from one player to another.

Few minutes before first half Mumbai Striker’s Rakesh Pathe, in order to bring the ball under control kicked Rammez Dabri a player of opponent team. Rakesh Pathe was given a yellow card for his action.

At the end of the first half both the team were level at 0-0 as they missed many chances to score.

The second half started with both teams playing aggressively.

In the 50th minute Mumbai Strikers Ravish Dsouza got a pass from the mid-field player whose shot was not on target.

In the 58th minute Cheeda Nagar’s Jay Kotak shot hit the post and the rebound went out for a goal kick.

In the 65th minute Mumbai Striker’s Ravish Dsouza took a good shot towards the target but the goalkeeper made a good save. He leaped in front to collect the ball.

In the 70th minute Cheeda Nagar’s goalkeeper Aniket Mishra in an attempt to make a save pushed Rakesh Pathe. Rakesh Pathe was injured and hence Aniket Mishra got a red card for his offensive behavior.

In the last minute Ashitosh Rathod received a yellow card as he purposely kicked a player of the opponent team. The player was injured and he had to be substituted.

With the full time whistle the match ended with 0-0 draw.

Both the teams were in pressure during the whole game. The coaches of Cheeda Nagar were displeased with the referee decision and there was controversy at the end of the game.
