MSSA Round-Up: Swami Vivekanand International hold much fancied DonBosco

Don Bosco High School, Matunga were held to a 1-1 draw by Swami Vivekanand International School, Kandivali in the Group A Encounter of the Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) Division 1 held at the Azad Maidan Ground on Thursday, 6th August 2015.

Ankush Palande’s strike was cancelled out by Krish Thakker as the Kandivali school pulled out a coup. In the other Group A encounters, St. Lawrence High School edged St. Mary’s High School 2-1 thanks to strikes from Moiz Lakhania and Aditya Chawande.

St. Joesph High School, Wadala put on a show as they handed Hiranandani Foundation School a 4-1 loss. Juson Patel netted a brace for the Wadala school while Amaan Mulani and Naresh Bohra added to the tally.

Dominic Savio High School from Andheri and St.Mary’s School from Mazagaon played out a drab goalless draw.

In the only Group A encounter held at the St. Xavier’s Ground in Parel, St.Lawrence High School, Kandivali comfortably eased past Activity High School with a 3-0 win thanks to goals from Ketan Devle, rashiar Kotian and Diptiman Prustu.

Campion School stole the headlines in terms of the Group B encounter after they edged a tight affair against Jamnabai Narsee School 2-1, after Rayan Badheka and Jay Maliye got on the scoresheet for the Colaba based side.

Johnson Matthews’ brace helped St.Francis D’Assisi power past Christ Church 2-0 in the other group B encounter.

The two 2nd Division games had contrasting results as The Cathedral and John C. School thrashed St.Xavier’s High School, Bhandup 6-0 at Azad maidan today, while the other encounter between Holy Family School, Andheri and St. Joseph, Malad finished goalless.

In the only 3rd Division game of the day, which was played at St.Xavier’s ground in Parel, Cambridge School, Kandivali beat Sacred Heart Boys School 2-1. Nimit Bhattacharya and Rohit Jha netted the crucial goals for the Kandivali outfit.

It was a special day for Kandivali schools as they went unbeaten on the day, as four teams from the north Mumbai area emerged victorious but it was Swami Vivekanand’s draw with Don Bosco which caught the eye.
