Khalid Jamil seeking a complete performance

Mumbai FC head choach- Khalid Jamil

Mumbai FC will entertain League Leaders Mohun Bagan on Saturday evening at Cooperage and will be banking on home advantage to see them claim their first win in ten games in the I-League.

It is easier said than done against this Mohun Bagan side and Khalid Jamil who was back speaking to the media stressed the importance of a complete performance from his side. “Tomorrow we have to perform to win. Right from the goalkeeper to the striker everyone has to give their hundred percent. Things haven’t gone too well for us at Cooperage recently and we have to perform to put that behind us”.

Khalid Jamil was wary of the threat posed by Mohun Bagan and said the Mariners had a good blend of local and international players. “Mohun Bagan are a very good side and are playing very well at the moment. Their foreigners, Soni and Katsumi are in good form, but their Indian players like Shehnaz and Anwar Ali are also in good nick”.

The Mumbai FC coach highlighted the importance of fighting for every inch on the football pitch against Mohun Bagan tomorrow and felt that is his side’s only chance of beating them. “We have to fight hard, fight for every fifty-fifty balls and not let the intensity drop during the entire ninety minutes. If we are to beat them we will have to outperform them”.

Jamil believed the last three results have helped his side’s morale, but felt his side needed to put in an extra shift to convert the draws into wins. “The morale of the team is good after the last three performances which were good. But we need little bit extra tomorrow and we need to win the game at any cost”.

Mumbai FC who have missed the services of Taisuke Matsugae in recent weeks will have to do without him for at least one more game according to Khalid Jamil. “Taisuke is injured, he is still not fit. Maybe he will be able to make it for the next game. Ashutosh is suspended and either Pradeep or Rohit Mirza will fill in for him”.

The Kuwait born coach is desperate for a win and with three back to back draws away in hostile conditions, Khalid Jamil feels his side has a good platform to build on and grab a first win in two and a half months.

Khalid Jamil who will be serving the last of his four game ban will be hoping to get the smiles back on faces of the Cooperage faithful who have been made to wait a tad too long for a home win for his liking.
