Khalid Jamil looking to sign off with a win

Mumbai FC surpassed East Bengal 2-1 last week when goals from Paresh Shivalkar and Josimar sealed the tie for Khalid Jamil’s boys. This win has almost made sure that Mumbai FC can stay in 1st division of I-League for one more year but to confirm their place in next season, “The Mumbaikars” has to at least draw against their next opponent, Kalyan Bharat FC, which will be kicked off later today at Mumbai’s Cooperage stadium.

This will be Mumbai’s last home game of the season and they surely don’t want to disappoint the Mumbai fans. It will be a proper send off from Mumbai FC fans if Mumbai defeats Kalyan Bharat FC, who is currently at the bottom of the table.

When asked, if he has already considered Mumbai FC being saved from relegation, the head coach Khalid Jamil stated, “No, I am not. If we win tomorrow then we are save for sure.”

The head coach also stated that there is more pressure in last matches of the season.

“The pressure is always more in last matches as it decides the position of a team, everyone has worked hard throughout the season. We definitely need to finish on a high note. It’s complicated as the mentality and thinking on each player is different in the last matches, some players are relaxed and some are already thinking about transfers so it’s a bit confusion.”

Khalid Jamil has some injury worries when he ruled out midfielder Sampath Kuttymani and Reisangmei Vashum for next game due to injuries.

“Nidhin Lal has not fully recovered yet, Kuttymani (Sampath Kuttymani) is not well and Vashum (Reisanfmei Vashum) is out injured too.”

Khalid Jamil has outlined that playing in ISL (Indian Super League) is good opportunity for Mumbai FC players.

“It’s good. Our players should definitely play there, it is a good opportunity and there isn’t any issue regarding that.”

The head coach has also stated that they will try Ashutosh Mehta to stay as there are rumours surrounding that he might leave Mumbai FC.

“There is news about some players leaving; we will definitely try to stop Ashutosh Mehta if he is considering leaving because we have worked hard on each and every player of the team.”
