Kalakaar Indians resist second half Golden Tigers onslaught to claim maiden win

Kalakaar Indians came out on top in an intense contest against Golden Tigers in the Colaba Super League held at the Back Gardens Ground on 1st May 2015, despite playing the last few minutes with a man less after Anil Pawar was sent off.
Kalakaar Indians got off to a perfect start when Roger Sam struck a fine half volley which flew into the net to give Kalakaar Indians the lead in just the second minute.
Kalakaar Indians continued to have the better of the game in the first fifteen minutes but Golden Tigers managed to avoid any further damage.
Golden Tigers threw on Noel Rodricks in place of Venkatesh Srinivas in the 14th minute in search of an equaliser.
The substitute made an almost instant impact a minute later, when he did well to create space for a shot but chose to pass to Pramod Yadav making it tough for Pramod to hit the target from a narrow angle.
Kalakaar Indians came close to a second goal when David D’Souza’s brilliant movement in the box allowed him to latch on to a corner to fire just wide of the target in the 25th minute.
Two minutes later, Roger Sam created another opening after a dazzling run at the heart of the Golden Tigers defence allowed him to play a one-two with David D’Souza only to see his final effort blocked by Golden Tigers defender.
Pramod Yadav nearly squeezed Golden Tigers level after he latched on to a shot, but his touch was a tad heavy allowing Kalakaar Indians to clear.
The half which was packed with action, almost had a defining moment at the end of it when David D’Douza did extremely well to head an aerial pass onto the crossbar.
Kalakaar Indians held their 1-0 lead at half time after being slightly the better side in the half.
Golden Tigers very nearly replicated Kalakaar Indians’ start to the game when Sachin Narsappa came agonisingly close to equalising for the Tigers in the 32nd minute.
Golden Tigers piled on the pressure in the second half and Noel Rodricks was inches away from scoring from a Rahil Guliwala throw-in in the 47th minute as his header raffled the side netting.
Noel Rodricks had another chance a minute later, when skipped past several chances to create space but took too long to shoot allowing Kalakaar Indians to kill the danger.
Sagar Mistry was having an inspired afternoon in goal for the Kalakaar Indians denying Venktesh Srinivas’ powerful drive in the 57th minute.
Kalakaar Indians went a man down a minute later, when Anil Pawar was given his marching orders after a second bookable offense.
Despite being under the cosh for the entire second half Kalakaar Indians held on for the victory.
The win was the first win of the campaign for Kalakaar Indians who inflicted a first defeat on the Golden Tigers.
