Irfan Shaikh helps Atlanta F.C defeat We Care 1-0.

MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association)

Atlanta F.C defeated We Care 1-0 in the 2nd Division match of MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) held at St. Xavier’s Ground ‘Parel’ on 14th April, 2015.

Even before the We Care players could settle themselves Atlanta F.C’s Irfan Shaikh scored in the 6th minute as he ran towards the We Care goal keeper, Adil Sayeed and chipped the ball over him. The ball bounced its way into the goal taking Atlanta F.C to 1-0 lead.

With pressure building on We Care team Shazaan Khan tried rescuing as he ran from the centre-line all the way through the right wing and attempted a shot only to be denied a goal. In the 22nd minute as well he put a through ball to his teammate Prakash Bist but Prakash wasn’t able to get a touch on the ball.

Shazaan had another try at the goal 5 minutes later which was assisted by Blake D’souza a half volley which was easily saved. With the chance to equalize being missed repeatedly the first half ended.

The struggle for We Care to equalize in the play-off match became more visible in the second half when they started maintaining most part of the ball possession. Nikhil Patel played a huge part in helping his team keep ball possession and occasionally putting across a through ball.

While Atlanta F.C answered them back with Mohsin Mulani who had been vigorous in clearing all the balls put inside by the We Care team. Atlanta F.C showed their ability to withstand We Care attacks and denied them from getting back into the game.

The hope for We Care team rested on Shazaan shoulders with the final free kick being taken by him in the last minute but it went wide off target and that marked that Atlanta F.C had defeated We Care 1-0.
