HDFC register a mounting victory over Steadfast F.C

HDFC defeated Steadfast F.C by 2-0 in the 1st division playoff match at St Xavier’s, Parel on 1st April 2015.

The first few chances were bagged by HDFC.  In the 2nd minute HDFC’s Siddharth Puthran passed to Nigel Dsouza. It was a good shot by Nigel Dsouza but the goalkeeper saved the shot by diving to his left.

In the 6th minute Steadfast F.C got a corner kick. Rajas Revadekar headed the ball but it went over the cross bar.

In the 15th minute HDFC got a free kick and it was kicked by the midfield player. The striker tapped it goal wards but it hit the goal post and the ball rebounded away.

Until the 20th minute both the teams were level at 0-0.

In the 27th minute HDFC’s midfield player gave a pass to the right winger. He directed the shot on the target but it went over the cross bar.

In the 35th minute            HDFC’s Liston Fonseca scored the first goal for its team. He shot the ball on the target and the goalkeeper failed to deal with it as Liston Fonseca scored from the rebound.

Few minutes before the first half Dujan Koli shot but it did not reach the target as the goalkeeper leaped forward to collect the ball.

At the end of the first half HDFC were ahead by 1-0. During the first half HDFC missed many chances to score.

Five minutes into the second half HDFC got a free kick. It was shot by Prakyanth Shetty and the striker of the same team tapped it but failed to hit the target as his efforts went wide of the left hand side post.

In the 65th minute HDFC’s Nelson Cardoz skipped many players and shot towards the goal but goalkeeper made a good save. It was a good chance by Nelson Cardoz.

After few minutes Steadfast F.C’s George Lawrence dragged the ball from midfield towards the target. He shot but the ball did not reach the target as it went wide towards left of the goal.

Soon In the 75th minute HDFC’s Dujan Koli scored and brought HDFC closer to the victory. After few passes he dribbled the ball from midfield and skipped the goalkeeper to turn the ball towards right and shot on the target. HDFC were leading by 2-0.

5 minutes later Steadfast F.C’s Maunish Koli missed a good chance to score. He received a chip from left winger and while dribbling the ball towards the target he dashed the goalkeeper and missed an easy goal.

During the last few minutes Steadfast F.C got a free kick. They failed to score as the goalkeeper made a good save.

HDFC registered a comfortable win over Steadfast FC but the score line could have been much bigger had HDFC managed to finish off their chances.
