HDFC cruise to a victory against Juhu Beach United

HDFC Bank enjoyed a comfortable afternoon as they disposed off uhu Beach United 3-0 in a 1st Division clash of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) at the St. Xavier’s Ground in Parel on Monday, 7th September 2015.

After missing out on promotion to the Super Division last season, HDFC looked determined to have a better shot this time out and looked sharp right from the outset in the clash against Juhu Beach United.

Juhu Beach United were finding it difficult to deal with HDFC’s vigour on the ball and were chasing shadows within the first five minutes.

It took HDFC just ten minutes to open the JBU defense and scored through Jayesh Naik whose neat finish set HDFC on their way in the game.

HDFC won a penalty eight minutes later which was duly converted by P. Shetty who sent an emphatic penalty kick away from the reach of the goalkeeper.

HDFC were firmly in the driver’s seat and JBU were struggling to stem the floe of the HDFC attacks. Eventually after some showing signs of recovery, JBU were dealt a fatal blow when Nigel D’souza made it 3-0 for HDFC in the 32nd minute.

Juhu Beach United had a mountain to climb as the teams went into the break with HDFC in cruise control of the game and leading 3-0.

The second half had a similar pattern as HDFC controlled the proceedings in the game. Juhu Beach United spent most of the time in their own box and had little to offer going forward as they bid to overcome a three goal deficit.

Despite the dominance, HDFC failed to add to their lead in the second half as they seemed to have lifted the foot off the pedal a bit.

HDFC began their campaign on a positive note at the expense of Juhu beach United who will now look to bounce back in their next game.
