Hansraj Morarji sneak through to the U-16 Division 2 Final

Captain Abhishek Valiyankath led Hansraj Moraji to a 1-0 victory over Cathedral and John Connon High School in the 2nd Division Semifinals of U-16 boys (Mumbai Schools Sports Association) MSSA, held at Copperage on August 12.

It was Cathedral and John Connon school which dominated the first half with Param Sabnani leading the attack.

But with a minute left in the first half, Hansraj Moraji’s Abhishek Valiyankath scored the Winning goal as Kamran Siddique put a through ball in for Abhishek. Abhishek made no errors and placed it in the bottom-left corner of the post and to give his side a 1-0 lead.

Hansraj Moraji players knew that they had a narrow lead over the Cathedral and John Connon team and were defending ferociously. Hansraj defenders were under pressure to try and prevent Cathedral coming back in the game with a equalizer in the second half.

Cathedral had many chances to comeback in the game as Hansraj players in an attempt to clear the ball, committed lot of fouls. The free kicks were saved easily by Dev Patel, the National Basketball player turned Goalkeeper. Dev did a commendable job on field to prevent the ball from entering the goal.

It was amazing to witness, Cathedral and John Connon parents present to cheer for their team who were equally passionate about the game as their kids.

As the final whistle blew, Hansraj Moraji had finally crossed the hurdle of Semi Finals after beating Cathedral and John Connon High School 1-0.

Hansraj coach, K.C. Raj Guru was satisfied with his teams performance and added, “To net the first goal is very difficult for both the teams, thats why defending is also important and we did it !”
