Golden Tigers prevail in a shootout win over Yash Warriors

Golden Tigers beat Yash Warriors 5-4 on penalties after the game was deadlocked at 1-1 in the Colaba Super League held at the Back Gardens Ground in Colaba on Sunday, 3rd May 2015.

The game had a good tempo at the start and Yash Warriors came close to taking the lead when Ramakant Pawar’s shot sailed over the crossbar after he was nicely laid off by Aman Tiwary in the 4th minute.

Golden Tigers’ first attempt came in the 16th minute whem Sushil Kawde’s effort went just wide of the target.

The intensity of the game dropped as teams struggled to keep up the tempo as the heat got the better of the players.
Both teams went into half time level at 0-0 with the game looking needing a moment of magic to spark things up.

Yash Warriors started the second half brightly and Bhavesh Vaidya nearly made it count in the 37th minute, when he created space to shoot as his effort was centimetres away from going in.

But it was the Golden Tigers who took the lead in the 48th minute when Rahil Guliwala despatched Sachin Narsappa’s deflected effort which fell kindly to his feet.

Yash Warriors threw goalkeeper Kishen Sulegai forward in search of an equaliser and he very nearly obliged when he his header from a corner very nearly found the target in the 54th minute.

Golden Tigers were getting plenty of joy on the break and they should have doubled their lead when Noel Rodricks failed to finish past the Warriors goalkeeper in the 57th minute.

The Tigers were made to pay for their miss as Yash Warriors equalised with just two minutes to play when Tejas Raut bundled in from close range to make it 1-1.

Warrior’s late equaliser ensured the game was forced into a penalty shootout to decide the outcome.

In the shootout, Sachin Narsappa opened the scoring for the Golden Tigers after he send Kishen Sulegai the wrong way. Prathamesh Kasare’s spot kick for Yash Warriors had a touch of fortune as it went in off the crossbar to pull Warriors level.

Kunal Tandrl put Golden Tigers in the lead once again with a perfect penalty but his effort was replicated by Karan Bhoir to level things up at 2-2.

Ritesh Sathe converted Golden Tiger’s spot kick before Tejas Rawat’s penalty send the tie to sudden death.

Sushil Kawde gave Golden Tigers the advantage but Ramakant Pawar kept Warriors in the game after levelling the scores at 4-4

Goalkeeper Prakash Chauhan once again put Golden Tigers in front before Ravi Bagdi’s kick was saved to give Golden Tigers a 5-4 win after the shootout.

The win puts Golden Tigers on five points as Yash Warriors edge to four points.
