Francisco Salin hat-trick helps Mumbai Customs tame unlucky Dena Bank

Mumbai Customs registered their third win in the bounce as they once again rode on Francisco Salin’s heroics when they brushed aside basement outfit Dena Bank 4-2 in the Elite Division game of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) held at Cooperage on Tuesday morning.
Mumbai Customs who were heavy favourites to leave Cooperage with all three points against the bottom team Dena Bank, took a while to get going but eventually found their touch around the quarter hour mark.
In the 19th minute, Francisco Salin put Mumbai Customs in front with a fine goal to add to his already impressive tally this season.
Mumbai Customs had chances to add to their deserved but slender lead in the first half, but they failed to make them count meaning they went into half time with the Francisco Salin goal being the difference between the two sides.
The second half started in the worst possible way for Dena Bank as they allowed Mumbai Customs to double their lead with Francisco Salin getting on the act once again in the game in the 47th minute.
Naseef C. put the result beyond any doubt, after putting Mumbai Customs 3-0 up in the 58th minute with a neat finish.
Dena Bank showed no signs of giving up though, and were unlucky not to be back in the game when three of their attempts ended with striking the woodwork.
There were no such moments of misfortune at the other end as Francisco Salin completed his hat-trick after bagging Customs’ fourth goal in the 70th minute.
But there was to be some reward for the second half resurgence of Dena Bank when they reduced the deficit with twin strikes in the dying minutes of the game from Mario Fernandes in the 87th minute and Shoaib Vindani in the first minute of stoppage time making it a scoreline of 4-2 in the favour of Mumbai Customs at the full time whistle.
The late goals from Dena Bank took the sheen off a splendid Mumbai Customs performance, but the day well and truly belonged to the Customs’ goal machine Francisco Salin whose hat-trick lit up the Cooperage field.
