Expat Premier League: Ivory Coast clinch Open Category title after a thriller

Team Ivory Coast clinched the Expat Premier League Open category title after a thrilling 1-0 win over South Africa on Sunday, 10th May 2015 as the eight week long football carnival was concluded at the Ascend International School campus in Bandra.

The final threw up a classic African battle with consulate officials, teachers and other officials from South Africa and Ivory Coast went head to head in the final marked by the national anthems of both the countries at the beginning.

The national pride at stake was quite evident with neither team wanting to give anything away to the opponents making it a tight yet enthralling game of football.

Christian (Koffi) made the breakthrough for the Ivory Coast before half time with a fine volley which ruffled the net.

A highly competitive second half which saw a South African backlash resulted in a nail biting finish as Ivory Coast held on for the victory which sparked celebrations in their camp which was graciously greeted by the beaten South Africans led by the South African Consulate General, Pule Malafane.

The South Africans held their heads high after a sensational display in the league saw them finish as the runners-up.

Simply the Best romp to a 3rd place finish
Simply the Best cruised past City F.C 3-0 thanks to a Davi Sanchez Netto brace to claim 3rd place in the Open Category of the Expat Premier league 2015.

Simply the Best, simply the most entertaining of all the sides in the league across all categories put up another show in the play-off match after earlier playing out a thrilling 5-5 draw in the Fair Play game against Real FC 40.
