Customs net late winner against Central Bank of India; RCF thrash Companeroes

Mumbai Customs registered a late 1-0 win over Central Bank of India in the Elite Division match of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) held at the Goan’s Sports Association Ground on Wednesday afternoon.

After a goalless first half, Customs came into their own in the second half dominating proceedings. The CBI resilience eventually gave late in the second when a shot from the Mumbai Customs stopper was deflected into the net.

CBI hardly had time to make amends as the own goal sunk them to give Mumbai Customs all three points.
Earlier in the day, Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers defeated Companeroes 3-0 at Cooperage in the MDFA Elite Division.

After a tight opening spell,RCF finally made the breakthrough in the 41st minute through Gadam Singh. RCF carried this advantage into the break.

RCF were the better team in the second half and a quick-fire brace around the hour mark from Rahul Yadav gave RCF a resounding 3-0 lead.

Rahul Yadav scored in the 60th and the 62nd minutes to seal Companeroes’ fate as they succumbed to yet another defeat in the city’s top flight.

Companeroes are nervously staring down at relegation after picking up just five points in this season’s competition. Meanwhile RCF continue to be in the top half of the Elite Division table.
