Brilliant Brainy World thump Kalakaar Indians

Brainy World produced a rampant first half display to ease past Kalakaar Indians in a Colaba Super League game at the Back Garden Ground in Colaba on Sunday afternoon.
Brainy World got off to a cracking start when skipper Chetan Tandel put them in front in the 4th minute when a rather tame effort which Sagar Mistry failed to keep out.
The early goal settled the Brainy World’s nerves. They had a good control of the game as Kalakaar Indians failed to build any kind of attacks.
In the 17th minute, Hemant Meher went close to doubling Brainy World’s lead after he did brilliantly to make a telling connection to a Bhavik Tandel grounded cross from the right. But unfortunately his attempt went wide.
Four minutes later, Praful Bhoir and Bhavil Tandel played a great one-two allowing Praful Tandel to unleash a shot which was well collected by the Kalakaar Indians goalkeeper.
With just two minutes to go in the first half, Devdas Patil scored a second for Brainy World. It was a neat finish from Devdas Patil who tapped in a cross from the right wing.
It got better for Brainy World as Hemant Meher found the net in the final minute of added time after he was totally unmarked in the penalty area.
Brainy World were firmly in the driver’s seat at half time as Kalakaar Indians needed some inspiration.
Kalakaar Indians earned themselves a life line just five minutes into the second half when the referee awarded them a penalty. But Anil Pawar blasted his spot kick over and the chance went begging for the Indians.
But the Kalakaar Indians did pull one back in the 41st minute when Sushant Jadhav’s shot took a wicked defection to beat the Brainy World keeper and make it 3-1 in the Brainy World’s favour.
Devdas Patil missed a great chance to add a fourth for Brainy World after he was played on goal in the 57th minute. But he failed to keep his shot on target
Praful Tandel was denied a minute later when the Kalakaar Indians goalkeeper brilliantly saved to his right.
Neither team could further alter the score as Brainy World ran out comfortable 3-1 winners over Kalakaar Indians.
In the final game of the day, Golden Tigers saw off Konaark Realtors 1-0 with a goal from Noel Rodricks in the 16th minute.
Brainy World ended Round 1 at the top of the table followed by Golden Tigers and Naaz United in 2nd and 3rd position respectively. Yash Warriors’ penalty shootout win saw them sit fourth with two points as Hina Royals occupied the fifth spot ahead of Konaark Realtors, Hiraai Suns and Kalakaar Indians who are yet to open their account
