Borges and Chile star as Air India maul RCF

Strikers Nicolau Borges and Sagar Chile, both showed excellent finishing touch, by each registering hat-tricks to power Air India to an authoritative 8-2 victory against Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF) in an Elite Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League – 2014-15, played at the Cooperage ground, on Tuesday morning.

Nippy forward Neil Gaikwad, the livewire of the Air India attack who has been scoring consistently, helped them make a perfect take-off with a third minute strike to open the account. He then added the second in the 24th minute and three minutes later Borges scored the first of his three goals, to make it 3-0 in favour of the airmen.

Showing the courage for a fight, RCF managed to reduce the deficit when midfielder Kevin Patrick found the net in the 35th minute before the teams went into the break with Air India enjoying a 3-1 lead.

After the change of ends, Air India continued to call the shots and Borges scored two more goals in the 53rdand 65th minutes to increase Air India lead. In between those two goals RCF managed to score their second goal through Naitulungbou S in the 56th minute.

Despite sitting pretty with a 5-2 advantage, Air India did not relax the pace and instead went all out in search of more goals and striker Chile came to the party with three successive strikes to wrap up the match.

Result, Elite Division: Air India 8 (Neil Gaikwad 3rd, 24th, Nicolau Borges 27th, 53rd, 65th, Sagar Chile 67th 85th, 90+2nd) beat Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers 2 (Kevin Patrick 35th, Naitulungbou S 56th).
