Mumbai Boxer’s comeback knocks out Millat FC ‘B’

Mumbai Boxer clinched a 2-1 win over Millat FC ‘B’ in the 3rd Divison game of Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) at Xavier’s Ground ‘Parel’ on 8th April 2015.

The match started with Fardinahd of Mumbai Boxer attacking the goal from the opening minute itself, building space in the midfield and then pacing towards the Millat FC ‘B’ goal post. Another Mumbai Boxer player Faizal Shaikh, assisted in him in his attempts.

The match became more intriguing when Mushfiq Shaikh of Millat FC ‘B’ had a direct shot at goal in the 7th minute but he passed it Umar Farooq who failed to score.

3 minutes later, Mushfiq Shaikh lost the second opportunity to score as he paced through the entire centre-line but the ball was intercepted. He didn’t lose heart and in the 13th minute he didn’t make any mistakes and scored the first goal with assistance from Kamran Siddique.

The game again changed the very next minute with pressure coming from Fardinahd, Shree Baraskar and Faizal Shaikh. The trio put a fierce attack and the first half ended with Mumbai Boxer trying to get back in the game and Millat FC ‘B’ enjoying 1-0 lead.

Fardinahd carried the ball from midfield and put it through to Faizal Shaikh who lost possession soon. Shree came in to support Faizal Shaikh and he won the ball again only to help Fardinahd score the equalizer in the 25th minute.

With the equalizer being scored the competition became severe, Millat FC’s Akshay Khandari dribbled and took a shot at goal from the left wing which was punched away by Mumbai Boxer, goalkeeper Gazali before it sneaked into the net.

With 4 minutes left for the final whistle, Shanawaz Ansari took the free kick for Mumbai Boxers. Nafis Hassan the Millat FC goalkeeper came out of his box to catch the incoming ball but he was a little late as Fardinahd headed the second goal.

As the final whistle blew, the game ended with Fardinahd scoring both the goals for Mumbai Boxers and Mushfiq Shaikh on the score sheet for Millat FC as the final outcome was 2-1 in Mumbai Boxer’s favour.
