Air India U-19 get crowned the Super Division Champions of 2014-15

The Super Division came to a thrilling end with the final play-off match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League – 2014-15 being played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel on 12th April, 2015. Air India U-19 became the Super Division Champions while Runners up trophy went to Mumbai FC U-19 and Income Tax came in the 3rd position.

The Air India Under- 19, were crowned the Super Division Champions of 2014-15 based on goal difference not having lost a single game this season and were on the top of the league table with 3 wins and 2 draws in 5 matches with 11 points.

The final match of the league was played between Mumbai FC U-19 and Mumbai Warriors. Mumbai FC needed a win to remain in the race for the title. Mumbai Warriors were leading by the end of the 1st the half with Ikena Ahukana scoring for them in the 16th minute.

Mumbai FC quickly regained composure in the second half as Prince Anandraj scored the equalizer in the 85th minute and also struck again in the last minute to lead Mumbai FC U-19 towards victory. He deservingly took home the Award for Best Player of the tournament.

By the end of the final match, Mumbai FC U-19 had acquired 11 points with 3 wins and 2 draws. They were deserving contenders for the title but had to settle for the Runners up trophy.

Income tax came in the third position with 3 wins 1 draw and 1 match lost.  They attained 10 points as they defeated Juhu Sparks 7-3 in the Play-off match held on the same day.

The defeat in the hands of Mumbai FC in the Final League Match 2-1 cost Mumbai Warriors the 3rd position and instead had to satisfy with the 4th place as they earned 7 points.

As they say, “All’s well that ends well.”  The hard work of all the players, the referee’s (Rahul Gupta, Sanjay Kar, Ravi Pandey, Tapan Ghosh) , MDFA officials and Staff helped in making the Super Division League Season 2014-15 yet another success.
