Western Railway win another crucial match against Indian Navy

Western Railway are now one match short of winning the title but it has some dependency, if Western railway manage to win their next match against Air India which is to be played on Saturday, 17th May 2014 then they will probably win the MDFA League Elite Division title. With a better goal average they are currently in-front, but they have to beat Air India to certain their title hopes and wish that Air India and ONGC play out a draw in their clash on the 19th of May 2014.

On Wednesday, they were lucky to be awarded a penalty just before the final whistle against Indian Navy and the penalty being converted it meant that the game finished 3-2 in favour of Western Railway. Navy’s Suman Bose handled the ball in the penalty area and the referee did not hesitate in pointing to the spot. PT Somi stepped up to score the all important winning goal.

Ravikant Naidu had initiated the breakthrough for Railways in 18th minute via a penalty kick. Later in the next minute Navy were also awarded a penalty, which Sunil Naik calmly netted for Indina Navy.

In second half Reuben D’Souza made it 2-1 to hand Railways the lead, but Navy again came up with the equalizer through Vikramjeet Singh just after 7 minutes after Reuben’s goal.
