ONGC upfront in MDFA Elite Division play-offa after win over Indian Navy

ONGC’s 2-1 win over Indian Navy earned them a top spot in the Elite Division play-off in the Mumbai District Football Association league (MDFA) played at Cooperage on Monday. After 3 games, ONGC now has 7 points whereas Air India have 6 points after two games and three more matches in hand, both are the favorites in the title race but Western Railway cannot be taken lightly as they have the potential to make a big upset. Western Railway have already started with a big 7-1 win over Mumbai Custom, which may turn up as a boost for the remaining 4 matches. Mumbai Customs, RCF and Indian Navy having lost their opening games in the playoffs .

A goal in each half turned out to be a comfortable win for ONGC, goals by Lavino Fernandes 39th minute and Parwinder Singh 50th minute were enough to secure 3 points. In return Indian Navy got back into the game through Sunil K. Nair’s 93rd minute strike but was too late to do more.
