MFA Elite Division: Atlanta FC bash PIFA, IRON BORN and GMSC secure decisive wins

The MFA Elite Division League saw some exciting matches recently as the teams continue to battle it out to earn a better position in the table.
In the recent round of fixtures, Ambernath-Atlanta FC faced PIFA Sports FC while IRON BORN FC and GMSC went up against Mumbai Kenkre FC and India Rush SC respectively.
All the matches are played at the Neville D’souza Turf ground in Bandra.
On Wednesday, 22nd February, Iron Born FC stunned Mumbai Kenkre FC with a 2-1 victory. Iron Born took the lead in the 21st minute through Armash Ansari, but it was cancelled out by Kenkre’s Raul Almeida in the 84th minute.
However, Mohammed Khatib netted the winner for Iron Born, late in the injury time. With the win, Aqueel Ansari’s team now have 13 points from 13 games and are placed 11th in the table, while Kenkre are placed 10th with 15 points from 13 games.
Iron Born will face GMSC in their upcoming fixture on March 1st, while Kenkre’s next game is against India Rush SC on the same day.
On Thursday, 23rd February, GMSC secured a comfortable 3-1 victory against India Rush SC.
Shlok Tiwari gave GMSC the lead in the 3rd minute of the game, but Zeeyan Nevrekar netted the equaliser for India Rush in the 20th minute.
GMSC took the lead again in the 61st minute, through Kartik Yenekar. Subsequently, substitute Vincent Rayan added a third and sealed the deal, in the 80th minute. GMSC are positioned 8th on the table with 19 points from 13 games, whereas India Rush SC are placed last in the table with just 3 points from 14 games.
In the second game on Thursday, defending champions Ambernath UTD-Atlanta FC thrashed PIFA Sports FC by a massive 10-0 scoreline.
Top striker Arif Sheikh’s (16′,63′,64′,90+2′) and Skipper Himanshu Patil’s (67′,76′,90+3′) brilliant hat-tricks and goals from Allan Dias, Ashley Koli and Sunny Thakur completed Atlanta’s goals. Atlanta are placed 3rd in the league table with 30 points from 10 games, while PIFA are in the 7th position with 20 points from 13 games.
Atlanta will play Karnataka Sports Association on the 3rd of March, while PIFA will face Oranje FC on the same day.
