Ambernath United – Atlanta FC defeat upbeat Karnatak Sporting Association

Ambernath United – Atlanta FC beat Karnatak Sporting Association (KSA) 2-1 to continue their winning streak in the MFA Harwood League.
Himanshu Patil’s brace helped Ambernath clinch all three points against an upbeat KSA side. In first quarter, Ambernath received an easy chance to take the lead. Defender Tejas Raut made a long pass in search of Arif Shaikh, who received the ball and found himself in a one-on-one situation against the opposition keeper. Arif’s feeble attempt missed the target, and the score remained goalless.
The Steven Dias led side continued a flurry of attacks against KSA. In the 32nd minute, Alok Chauhan took the ball in the midfield and played a defence-splitting pass to Arif. Shaikh dribbled past defenders and played the final ball to Himanshu. The striker capitalised from the opportunity and scored from an easy tap-in.
The first half ended in favour of Ambernath United – Atlanta FC, leading by a solitary goal.

The second half intensified right from the start. Within a few minutes, Tejas, in search of increasing the lead, crossed the ball inside the opposition box, but defender Yash managed to deflect the attack. His weak clearance was met with an immediate response from Shravan Shetty, who snatched the ball and made his way inside the box. Yash tried to stop Shravan but ended up commmiting a rough tackle resulting in a penalty.
Himanshu rose to the occasion and made no mistake from the spot. Ambernath United – Atlanta FC led 2-0 at the 52nd minute.
Soon, Karnatak Sporting Association replied. Forward Sanchit Singh found the back of the net and reduced the deficit. The goal was supposed to decrease pressure off KSA. However, the winning side seemed rampaged and continued making amends. Ambernath United – Atlanta FC stayed compact and kept pushing for goals till the final whistle.
FT Score: Ambernath United – Atlanta FC (Himanshu Patil 32’ 50’) 2-1 Karnatak Sporting Association (Sanchit Singh 68’)
