MFA Women’s League: Bodyline, Footie First, India rush clinch convincing wins on opening day

On the opening day of the Mumbai Football Association organized Women’s League, teams from Group-A clashed swords against each other.
Bodyline thumped 7 goals past Somaiya Sports Academy, India Rush edged past Future Star followed by a comfortable 5 goal victory scripted by Footie First against team Oscar.
The day kicked-off with Footie First claiming a convincing victory against Oscar. Pooja Morey opened the scoring at the opening minutes with a commendable effort. By the end of the first half, Priyanka and DollyKumari increased their lead by 3 goals. In the second half, Footie First fielded with added vigour and MamtaKumari Gope scored a brace to clinch a five-star victory.
The second game of the day saw India Rush edge past Future Star FC by a 2-1 win. Riya D’Souza opened the scoring for India Rush at the 17th minute followed by Tanvi Raju in the 32nd minute. The first half ended with a convincing lead for India Rush. However, in the second half, Future Star made amends and looked sturdy on the attack. Shemchui Ningsheng pulled the strings at the 62nd minute but her sole effort went in vain as India Rush stood robust at back to defend their lead.
Karen Pais of Bodyline SC noted a heroic performance scoring four goals in the third game. Deniese Pereira opened the scoring with her first attempt at the 3rd minute followed by another goal at the 53rd minute. Throughout the entirety of the game, Bodyline SC outclassed their opponents and dominated possession. Alongside Karen and Deniese, Ashmearl D’Silva found the net at the 51st minute. Bodyline SC’s dominance since kick-off reaped a seven goal win by the end.
Group-B participants FC Mumbaikars face Kenkre FC, PIFA play Companeroes and South Mumbai United play Soccer XI in the second matchday on 13th March. The games will take place at the Cooperage Stadium starting at 10 AM.
