Gaur fans on late goals, Ishan Pandita and January transfer wish

Gaur fans laud the team’s fighting spirit, young Ishan Pandita’s first touch goal, and what they want to see in the January transfer window.
Trailing 0-1 to Hyderabad FC for the most part of the game, FC Goa turned the table in the final moments with 2 quick goals courtesy of Ishan Pandita first touch header and Igor Angulo’s moment of brilliance. This was the second time in as many games Goa came out with all three points courtesy of Igor Angulo’s injury-time winners. We spoke with few fans on what they make of the performance, Ishan Pandita’s maiden goal, and what they expect in the ongoing transfer window.
Despite losing a number of club regulars of the last 3 years along with fan-favorite Coach, Gaurs’s under new Coach Juan have shown an immense amount of resilience and fighting spirit in their matches. Fans cannot stop lauding the fighting spirit, “The last 5 minutes against Hyderabad FC showed everyone, how lethal Goa can be. With these back-to-back wins, Goa has entered the top 4 and now for sure, Goa will start scoring goals for fun. We are waiting to see the FC Goa team that we know of”, says a confident Mariano D’cunha, a member of FC Goa Fan Club.
Is Ishan Pandita the answer for Igor’s much-needed strike partner?
While Igor Angulo has seamlessly filled up the role left vacant by the Club’s all-time top scorers Coro, Gaurs has struggled to find another striker to share the goal-scoring burden. In the nine games Goa has played, Angulo has scored 9 goals with the club’s next best scorer coming from Jorge Ortiz with two. Ishan Pandita made quite an impact in the Hyderabad game when he scored from his very first touch of the ball to put the game on level terms.
Although Ishan has spent just 6 minutes on the field for Goa, the youngster looked confident and returned with a goal. “Ishan Pandita is an outstanding lad. Hopefully, he will get more minutes now to show what his caliber is. That goal from him brought us back into the match”, stats Mariano. One won’t be surprised to see Coach Juan start him in the coming future to reduce Igor’s goal-scoring burden. Either way, fans are elated to see him play for Goa and believe him to be the future as Shashwat Kamat, a student member of FC Goa fan club claimed, “Ishan Pandita has arrived on the big stage and it looks like he will shine in the days to come.”

Will there be any transfer business for Goa?
As the tournament enters halfway stage, FC Goa have managed to enter the Top 4 but there is still a lot of room to improve. Despite having a similar style to lobera, Goa is still struggling to find their rhythm while defensively they are joint third in the list of most goals conceded.
A number of young talents have hit the limelight this season and Fans are wishing the club may look to bring some home. Tanmay Bhagat, student at Don Bosco College of Engineering Fatorda, believes shoring up defenses and an Indian striker will help increase competition among players, “Even though Saviour Gama has exhibited really good performance, he needs a backup. In my opinion, Akash Mishra from Hyderabad FC can be the right player for FC Goa. He is solid in defense and as well as quicker in attacking position. Goa has Ishan upfront as an Indian striker option but bringing in either of Vikram Pratap Singh or home boy Liston Colaco can help increase competition and serve the needs of the Goan side.”
Meanwhile, Mariano D’cunha believes the club won’t need to do any transfer season as the team is now gelling well and will start delivering what is expected of them. “The team looks settled now. There is very thin chance of FC Goa going into the transfer. Surely the team which we have, can work wonders in new year”, concludes Mariano.
