Kerala Blasters rope in Umesh Perambra

Umesh Perambra

Kerala Blasters have boosted their defence with the capture of 23 year old Centre Back Umesh Perambra for the 2020-21 Indian Super League season.

Kerala Blaster have been quite busy in the transfer market and are looking to strengthening their defence after the departure of club legend Sandesh Jhingan.

The club had already roped in former Bengaluru FC youngster Nishu Kumar in a high profile transfer while Abdul Hakku and Jessel Carneiro has been offered extended contracts. Having acquired the services of Denechandra Meitei from TRAU FC recently, Blasters have now put trust over another youngster Umesh Perambra.

Umesh, who last represented Jamshedpur FC reserves, was a regular member in his team’s I league 2nd division campaign. The youngster helped his side keep a clean sheet for 4 games out of eight while also contributing with an important injury time equalizer during thier match against Lonestar Kashmir.

Umesh, who made his mark at the RFYS inter-college championship in 2017, was selected alongside three other players to attend trials for India U22 National Camp. Here he was handpicked by former India National team coach Stephen Constantine for the AFC U-22 Qualifiers National Camp. He was part of now-defunct Mumbai FC as well as I League 2nd Division side Ozone FC before switching too Jamshedpur FC Reserves last season.

After repeated failures to make it to play-off, Kerala Blasters seem to be investing heavily on youngsters. With I League title winning Coach Kibu Vicuna as a manger for the upcoming season, the club looks likely to be one of the title contenders.
