Northeast United have announced contract extension for 5 players

In their latest announcement, Highlanders have retained Goalkeeper Subhasish Roy and Defender Wayne Vaz among five players for the upcoming season.
After a rather timid outing in the last season of Hero ISL, where they finished 9th in the latest edition of Hero ISL, just above debutants Hyderabad FC, Northeast United are now looking to step up the game.
The club has decided to retain few young and few other notable performers of last season. The highlanders have retained the services of goalkeeper Subhasish Roy, defenders Rakesh pradhan and Wayne Vaz alongside two midfielder Lalengmawia and Ninthoinganba Meetei for the upcoming season.
This will be the first instance when Goalkeeper Subhasish Roy would be representing the same ISL club for the second season. The veteran custodian, who has won the ISL title in its inaugural season with ATK, has represented 6 different ISL outfit in last 6 years. Meanwhile defenders Rakesh Pradhan and Wayne Vaz have extended their stay at Northeast too.
19 year old former Indian Arrows midfielders, Lalengmawia, Ninthoinganba Meetei, who signed for Northeast United last season, have extended their stay at the club. Both the players had received a decent amount of game time and showed enough promise as the club offered them extension.
While the club wasn’t the worst defensively, it was in the striking department that they were found wanting. After World Cup experienced Asamoah Gyan got injured early in the campaign, highlanders struggled to replace him with goals drying out upfront. In order to bolster the attack with Indian ranks, the club is currently linked with Mohun Bagan Striker VP Suhair and Neroca FC forward Imran Khan.
They are also rumoured to have signed Ponif Vaz, Gurjinder Kumar, Lalkhawpuimawia & Rochharzela for the 2020-21 season.
