A late CS Nageef strike gave Mumbai Customs a crucial win over Central Bank of India while in Super Division Soccer XI edge Sunday Boys in 7 goal thriller.

Mumbai Customs staved off a spirited Central Bank of India fight back to snatch away a close 2-1 victory in an Elite Division match of the Rustomjee-MDFA League 2019-2020 played out at the Cooperage ground on Saturday.

The defending champions Mumbai Customs asserted their dominance by forging ahead through Shrikant Vermulu strike in the 24th and go into the break with a narrow 1-0 cushion.

Central Bank fought on gamely and managed to draw level when Alistair A. found the net in the 85th minute. But, a determined Mumbai Customs immediately regained the lead when their consistent scorer, C.S. Naseef scored their second goal in the 87th minute and seal their win and collect all the three points.

Meanwhile in Super Division, Soccer XI came back from a goal down twice to register a 4-3 win over Sunday Boys. After a cagey beginning, Sunday Boys managed to edge ahead at half time with goal deep in to the added time of first 45 minutes as Calvin Dsouza’s strike found the back of the net.

On restart, Mihir Patil added the second withing the first 8 minutes as Sunday Boys looked in control However, Soccer XI came back strong with a goal of their own when Swapnil struck in the 58th minute to reduce the deficit. Nine minutes later, Bhavesh struck the equalizer as Soccer XI were back in the game. However the joy was short lived as Mihir Patil complete his brace with his second strike in the 74th minute to put Sunday Boys back in the lead.

With timing running out Soccer XI committed more men in attack and started troubling Sunday Boys defence. They were eventually successfully when at the 90th minute, Bhavesh struck the equalizer. With last few minutes of added time left and Soccer XI rode on the momentum to snatch another goal as Azariah popped up with the winner in injury time to end the match 4-3 in favour of Soccer XI.
