Elite Division: UBI to face high-flying Mumbai Strikers
27th February 2018, Mumbai: In a repeat of RCF Nadkarni Cup semi-final, Union Bank of India (UBI) will be looking to win their fifth match of the campaign as they will take on high-flying Mumbai Strikers in MDFA Elite Division at Cooperage Stadium on Wednesday evening. Mumbai Strikers are currently in a good form and they will surely look for all three points in hope to survive this season.
Both the outfits had clashed earlier this season when they met in the RCF Nadkarni Cup 2018 semi-finals at RCF Ground, Chembur. UBI clinched a 3-2 win in what was a thrilling contest. Mumbai Strikers were 2-1 up just before the half-time when Ranjeet Pandre levelled the score at the break.
Midfielder Valentine Pereira snatched the winning goal in the second-half which crashed Mumbai Strikers out of the tournament. Irrespective of the result, the Strikers played brilliantly that evening which concluded their superb campaign at the RCF Ground. They resumed their Elite Division campaign last week where they earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Kenkre FC.
Tomorrow will be a crucial game for Mumbai Strikers. A win would surely boost their chances of surviving this season. The likes of Manthan Mehta, Arnold Mascarenhas, Abhijit Shetty, Sainath, Akshay Devadiga and Ravish D’Souza must find a way to stop UBI who has been quite consistent this season.
