MDFA U-14 Youth League 2016 Round-up: Day 1

The ‘MDFA Under-14 Youth League 2016’ is organised by the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), Promoted by the SportingLions and the Technical Partners Mumbai City FC has been kicked-off yesterday at Lions Municipal Sports Complex and MSSA Azad Maidan with over 40 teams participating in this extravaganza tournament.
The 40 teams have been pooled in 8 groups with the top team from each group will progress to the quarter-finals. After the completion of the Youth League, the top 4 teams from this tournament will get a chance to play at the State-level Championship which is organised by WIFA (Westen India Football Association) as a part of the State Development Program.
Group A
In the first match of Group A at Lions Municipal Sports Complex, Goans registered an easy 7-0 victory over Carmelites. Arya Gandharva netted a fine hat-trick, Suraj Kumar‘s brace, and a goal each from Carl Miranda and Aryan Kelear helped them to start their campaign on a roll.
The second match of the Group A saw Mumbai United sailing past Kapadia Nagar with a scoreline of 8-0 to register a memorable victory. A brace from Jaisal Shinde, Omkar Katre, Ayush Pujari, and Akash Sonawane was enough for the young lads of Mumbai United to go top of the Group A standings.
Group B
Mumbai FC faced Indian Football Academy in the first fixture of Group B at Lions Municipal Sports Complex where the young yellow submarines’ registered a respectable 5-0 victory.
Raghav Dutta scored brace, Hammad Shaikh, Altamash Valsangiar and Siddhart Konkar scored apiece to see off their counterpart.
In the second match of Group B, Steadfast and Rhema had to settle for a draw as the clash ended 3-3 at Lions Municipal Sports Complex. Zeeyan Vevrekar, Jaffar Mansuri and Lalit Bangera scored for Steadfast, whereas, Adam Alvarez netted a brace for Rhema and Vidhit Vohra scored the third goal.
Group E
In the first match of Group E, Sunday Boys defeated Madanpura FC 3-2 at Azad Maidan to kick-off their campaign on a winning note.
Shubham Sawant scored twice and Ritesh Nishad got the third goal for Sunday Boys, whereas, Faisal Shaikh and Fardeen Ansari netted one each for Madanpura FC.
In the second match of Group E, Riding on Duane D’Souza‘s hat-trick ,MSSA (Mumbai Schools Sports Association) overcame PIFA with a resounding 7-0 victory at Azad Maidan.
Apart from Duane’s hat-trick, Khush Gohil scored twice, whereas, Karsten D’Souza and Vansh Kale netted one goal each.
Group F
Kenkre FC produced a stellar performance to see off Bharat FC 7-0 in the first match of Group F at Azad Maidan. Arhan Thaker scored four times, whereas, Shane Aranha registered twin goals to his name and Nathan Murzello with the other goal.
In the second match, Nav Nihal drew 1-1 with Salsette in a neck-to-neck encounter at Azad Maidan. Ummer Ansari for Nav Nihal, and Aradhya Vasnidhi for Salsette got on the scoresheet.
