Flash FC and Hirai Suns FC grabs important wins

On 14th May 2015, Flash FC and Hirai Suns FC registered important victories to stay in hunt for the top four finish after defeating Naaz United and Sanchita FC in Colaba Sports League 2016, at Cooperage Stadium.

Flash FC 1-1 Naaz United (Flash FC wins 2-1 on penalties)

A determined Flash FC rallied strongly to get the better of Naaz FC 3-2 via the penalty shootout in a keenly contested league encounter of the 2nd edition of Colaba Sports League, played at the Cooperage ground. The scores were level at 1-all at the end of regulation period.

After a barren 35-minute first session, Naaz FC against the run of play snatched the advantage, with Aziz Khan firing them in the lead with a goal in the 50th minute.

However, their joy was short-lived as two minutes later, defender Tejas Raut netted the equalising goal for Flash and force the match to the tie-breaker. Tejas found the space and brilliantly found the top corner from 30 yards.

In the tense penalty kicks duel, Flash successfully scored two through Sushant Jadhav and Ashish Pawaskar while only Ritesh Sathe found success for Naaz United. With this win Flash FC has moved to the top spot of the CSL standings.

Tejas was later declared Player of the match which is his 3rd of the season. A strong contender for player of the tournament.

Hirai Suns FC 1-0 Sanchita FC

Nagesh Swami’s side finally seems to be back on the track after their narrow 1-0 victory over Sanchita FC. Sushil Kawde scored the lone goal in the injury time from the spot kick to ensure Hirai Suns FC’s victory.

Hirai Suns could have scored a lot had they took their chances clinically. Sanchita FC’s marquee player Pratik Koli could have scored the opening goal in the 7th minute itself, but his delicate cheap blazed over the bar.

Last year’s Player of the Tournament Karim Shaikh was back into the Hirai Suns lineup, and it surely boosted the side. Midway into the first half, Karim’s powerful volley was brilliantly tipped over the bar by Sanchita’s goalkeeper Chetan Dhanu.

In the second half, Pratik Koli once again came close when his low shot towards the far post was saved by Harshad Meher. Few minutes later, Karim who was one on one against Chetan Dhanu couldn’t capitalize as Chetan once again denied him with a huge save.

Just when everyone thought that the match is heading towards the penalties, a delightful ball by Karim to Srikant saw Dhruvesh Nijap committing a foul on Srikant which led to a penalty.

Sushil Kawde stepped up and comfortably scored past Chetan Dhanu to ensure Hirai’s victory. For his stunning saves Chetan Dhanu got away with the player of the match award.
