Lian Mathews nets brace as in Football Leaders romp to victory

Mumbai, April 8: Football Leaders Academy cashed in on the brilliant two goals scored by opportunistic striker Lian Mathews to overcome Aquila FC 2-0 in the opening round match of the Women’s League in the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League – 2015-2016 and played at Karnatak SA ground, Cross Maidan on Friday. Lian did well to score the opening goal in the 18th minute to break Aquila’s resistance and later doubled the lead with another smart goal in the 44th minute.

Fr. Agnel also enjoyed an equally good outing as they recorded an identical 2-0 win against Companeroes SC. Jyoti Mehra and Prachi Shetty with a goal each were on target for the winning side.

In the third match of the day, Bodyline FC blanked Royal Warriors 4-0 with Levahnah Divekar, Tasneem Muchhala, Rita Cassia Ukachukwu and Tricia Colaco, all chipping in with a goal each.

Results – Women’s league : Football Leaders Academy 2 (Lian Mathews 2) beat Aquila FC 0.

Fr. Agnel 2 (Jyoti Mehra, Prachi Shetty) beat Companeroes SC 0.

Bodyline FC 4 (Levahnah Divekar, Tasneem Muchhala, Rita Cassia Ukachukwu, Tricia Colaco) beat Royal Warriors 0.
