Tachikawa’s Late Stunner Seals Comeback Win for Jamshedpur FC

Jamshedpur FC produced a thrilling late turnaround to defeat East Bengal FC 2-1 at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, securing their third consecutive win of the ISL 2025-26 campaign.

The match began at a lively pace, with both sides eager to stamp their authority early. East Bengal threatened first through Jay Gupta, while Jamshedpur thought they had taken the lead when Raphael Bouli found the net, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside. Bouli continued to trouble the backline but was repeatedly caught by a well-drilled defensive line.

As the half progressed, both teams created opportunities. Vincy Barretto tested Prabhsukhan Gill with a sharp effort, and Madih Talal tried his luck from distance. East Bengal looked dangerous from set-pieces, with Anwar Ali and Anton Søjberg going close.

The breakthrough came in the 40th minute. A throw-in situation led to Bipin Singh delivering a cross into the area, where Edmund Lalrindika slipped his marker and calmly slotted past Albino Gomes to hand the hosts a 1-0 lead at the break.

Jamshedpur came out with greater intent in the second half. Bouli forced a strong save, and Talal’s free-kick kept the East Bengal defence under pressure. Their persistence paid off in the 61st minute when Stephen Eze powered home a header from Nikola Stojanović’s corner, restoring parity. Eze’s commanding display later earned him the Player of the Match honour.

With the scores level, the game opened up. Both sides pushed for a winner, but it was a tactical substitution from Owen Coyle that turned the tide. Introduced late on, Rei Tachikawa made an immediate impact. In the 87th minute, after a slick combination involving Mohammed Sanan and Talal, Tachikawa curled a superb right-footed strike into the top corner to complete the comeback.

East Bengal pressed hard in stoppage time, coming close through Anwar Ali and Vishnu Puthiya, but Albino Gomes and the Jamshedpur defence held firm.

The dramatic 2-1 victory sends Jamshedpur FC provisionally to the top of the table with nine points from three matches, while East Bengal suffer their first defeat of the season.
