India’s senior men’s national team head coach Khalid Jamil has announced a 23-member squad for their upcoming AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 Qualifiers Final Round fixture against Hong Kong, China, scheduled for March 31, 2026.

The Blue Tigers have begun their training camp in Kochi from March 24, with the majority of the squad already in attendance. Defender Anwar Ali, midfielder Jeakson Singh Thounaojam, and forward Edmund Lalrindika are set to link up with the team later after completing their Indian Super League commitments.

Although India are no longer in contention for qualification, the fixture presents a valuable opportunity for the team to regroup and build towards the future. Head coach Khalid Jamil emphasised the importance of this phase, highlighting the integration of emerging talents from the U20 and U23 setups. With several young players gaining experience in ongoing youth competitions, the focus remains on developing a cohesive system that aligns with the senior team’s vision.

The squad features a strong blend of experience and youth across all departments. The goalkeeping unit includes Albino Gomes, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, and Vishal Kaith, while the defence is bolstered by the likes of Sandesh Jhingan, Rahul Bheke, Anwar Ali, and Akash Mishra. In midfield, players such as Lalengmawia Ralte, Jeakson Singh, and Sahal Abdul Samad provide creativity and control. The attacking lineup sees a mix of pace and firepower with names like Lallianzuala Chhangte, Liston Colaco, Manvir Singh, and Rahim Ali leading the charge.

With preparations underway, the upcoming clash against Hong Kong offers India a platform to test combinations, assess emerging talent, and lay the groundwork for future competitions under Khalid Jamil’s leadership.
