Delhi FC Run Riot at Home to Overpower MYJ
Delhi FC delivered a dominant performance to defeat MYJ 6-1 in their I-League 2 clash at the Minerva Stadium, strengthening their position at the top of the table.
Delhi FC made a blistering start and took control of the game within minutes. Himanshu Jangra opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a composed finish inside the box, before Keisham Meetei doubled the lead shortly after, capitalising on a rebound from a saved free-kick.
The hosts continued their relentless attacking display, with Wungshung adding a third from long range in the 14th minute. Akash Tirkey then made it 4-0 in the 25th minute with a clinical finish, as MYJ struggled to contain the early onslaught.
Jangra further extended the lead in the 32nd minute with a well-taken header to complete his brace, sending Delhi FC into halftime with a commanding 5-0 advantage.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Delhi FC maintaining control in possession and continuing to press forward. Although they missed a penalty in the 59th minute, the pressure remained constant.
Jangra completed his hat-trick in the 62nd minute, finishing confidently in a one-on-one situation to make it 6-0 and cap off a standout individual performance.
MYJ managed to pull one back in the 79th minute through Kean Lewis, who finished calmly after a well-worked move, but it proved to be only a consolation.
The result sees Delhi FC continue their strong run at the top of the standings, while MYJ face a setback as they look to regroup in the matches ahead.
