Mumbai City FC secured a determined 2–1 victory against Inter Kashi in the Indian Super League 2025–26 at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on March 15. The Islanders held their nerve despite a strong late push from the hosts to claim an important three points.

Mumbai City started the match on the front foot and dominated possession early on. Ayush Chhikara created the first opportunity in the fourth minute, but his effort from close range was comfortably saved by Inter Kashi goalkeeper Lluis Tarrés. Chhikara came close again later in the half after being set up by captain Lallianzuala Chhangte, but his shot drifted just wide.

Despite Mumbai controlling most of the play, Inter Kashi remained compact in defence and looked to threaten on the counterattack. Their best chance of the first half came in the 42nd minute when Llamas forced a save from Phurba Lachenpa with a strike from the right.

The breakthrough finally arrived in first-half stoppage time. From a corner delivered by Chhangte, Noufal PN reacted quickly inside the box and slotted the ball into the net to give Mumbai City FC the lead heading into the break.

Inter Kashi responded strongly after the restart and equalised in the 51st minute. Sandip Mandi delivered a precise cross into the box and Rohit Danu rose to meet it with a close-range header to bring the hosts level.

However, the visitors restored their advantage almost immediately. Just a minute later, Jorge Ortiz threaded a perfectly timed pass into the area for Chhangte, who finished calmly with his left foot to make it 2–1.

The match became increasingly open as both sides searched for more goals. Inter Kashi pushed forward aggressively, with Petkevičius and Danu testing the Mumbai defence and goalkeeper Lachenpa.

Mumbai were reduced to ten men late in stoppage time when Hmingthanmawia Ralte received a red card. Inter Kashi piled on the pressure in the closing moments and even struck the crossbar twice, but the Islanders’ defence held firm.

The final whistle confirmed a hard-earned 2–1 victory for Mumbai City FC, with captain Lallianzuala Chhangte playing a decisive role in guiding his side to their third win of the season.
