Vikram Shines as Mumbai City FC Thrash Sporting Club Delhi in their first encounter
Mumbai City FC began their AIFF Super Cup 2025-26 campaign in style, defeating newcomers Sporting Club Delhi 4-1 at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda. The Islanders were dominant from the start, scoring three goals in the first half before sealing the game with a late strike in stoppage time.
Mumbai wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. In the sixth minute, Lallianzuala Chhangte delivered a teasing free-kick from the right, which was flicked on by Tiri and calmly finished by Jorge Pereyra Díaz to give Mumbai an early lead. Soon after, Vikram Partap Singh made it 2-0 with a superb curling effort after being played through by Jon Toral.

The pressure kept mounting on SC Delhi, and in the 32nd minute, Jorge Ortiz added Mumbai’s third. Vikram raced down the flank and crossed the ball in, and though goalkeeper Karanjit Singh parried it, Ortiz reacted quickest to tap home and make it 3-0 before half-time.
To their credit, SC Delhi showed more fight after the break. They pushed forward with purpose and earned a penalty in the 75th minute when Dhruv Alva fouled Ayush Adhikari inside the box. Andrei Alba stepped up and converted confidently to score SC Delhi’s first goal in the competition.

However, Mumbai City had the final say. Deep into stoppage time, Vikram struck again — smashing Brandon Fernandes’ pass off the underside of the crossbar to complete his brace and seal a comfortable 4-1 victory for the Islanders.
It was a confident and composed performance from Mumbai City FC, who showcased their attacking depth and control, while Sporting Club Delhi can take heart from their spirited second-half showing in their debut Super Cup appearance.
