In a truly wild opening game, Snigmay FC fought back from two goals down, not once but twice, to grab a thrilling 4-4 draw against Navi Mumbai SA on their home ground.

Maharashtra State Men’s Football League (MSMFL) Phase 2 is officially underway, and it started with a bang! This exciting match, which was a postponed game from Phase 1, also marked the debut of the league’s new venue in Navi Mumbai (NMSA, Vashi), and the other venue will be Pune (Hotfut Turf, Bavdhan) where the matches will begin from 3rd June.

The game began at NMSA, Vashi, and Navi Mumbai quickly took charge. Within the first 10 minutes, Kunal Raghav scored for the hosts after a mix-up in Snigmay’s defense. Navi Mumbai kept pushing and soon went up 2-0 when Aadil Sheikh netted a stunner goal from outside the box.

But Snigmay wasn’t out yet. Their key striker and consistent scorer, Vaibhav, pulled one back from a corner kick with a half-volley finish. Then, just before halftime, Mohit Ughade calmly scored from the penalty spot to level the game at 2-2.

The second half saw Navi Mumbai regain their two-goal lead quickly. Substitute Mayank scored twice in just three minutes. First, he buried a shot after a scramble in Snigmay’s box, and then he calmly finished another chance set up by Kunal Raghav. Navi Mumbai looked set for all three points at home.

However, Snigmay FC had other plans. In the 90th minute, Mohit Ughade received a through pass just at the edge of the box and audaciously chipped the ball over the keeper to make it 4-3. Then, right before the final whistle, substitute Prateek got through on goal from a long pass and scored a brilliant shot to the far post, completing an incredible comeback and securing a 4-4 draw.

For Snigmay FC, travelling to Navi Mumbai and snatching a crucial point in such dramatic fashion will undoubtedly boost their morale. They now look forward to a pivotal Pune derby against AIYFA FC on the Pune turf.

Conversely, Navi Mumbai will return to the drawing board with a mix of frustration and lessons. They will seek to rectify these defensive lapses as they prepare to host MYJ-GM in their next home fixture.
