Millat FC Start Their MPL Season in Style with a Commanding 3-0 Win Over Iron Born

by Chandler D'silva December 9, 2025

The sixth match of the Mumbai Premier League 2025-26 produced a strong and composed performance from Millat FC, who began their campaign with an impressive 3-0 victory over Iron Born FC. The contest showcased Millat’s attacking sharpness and Iron Born’s determination, but in the end, Millat’s quality in the final third made the difference.

Millat FC took control of the first half early, keeping more possession and consistently threatening the Iron Born defence. Captain Keegan Pinto dictated play through midfield, while Roger created constant problems on the wing with his pace and creativity. Iron Born defended bravely in the opening minutes, but the breakthrough arrived in the 16th minute, when Roger found space and slotted home the opener to give Millat a deserved lead.

Iron Born responded with a few attacking moments of their own, but they failed to make their chances count. Millat remained in control for most of the half, entering the break with a solid 1-0 advantage.

The second half saw Iron Born push higher in search of an equaliser. They created opportunities but lacked the finishing touch needed to change the momentum. Millat absorbed the pressure and continued to look dangerous on every counterattack.

Their persistence paid off in the 64th minute, when substitute Merick Fernandes made an instant impact. Set up by Roger, Merick hammered in Millat’s second goal, doubling the lead and shifting full control to the home side.

As Iron Born pushed forward late in the game, Millat found more space to exploit. In the 90th minute, Merick Fernandes struck again – this time with a gentle touch past the goalkeeper – sealing both his brace and Millat’s first victory of the new season.

With a confident 3-0 win, Millat FC begin their campaign on a high, showcasing balance, attacking power and squad depth. Iron Born FC, although showing glimpses of good play, will aim to regroup quickly and return stronger in their next fixtures.

For Millat, this was a statement performance – a winning start built on discipline, energy and clinical finishing.
