Andhra Titans triumph at Inaugural Super League Rajhara Football Tournament

The first-ever Super League Rajhara Football Tournament, organized in memory of late Ganesh Sharma, an ex-footballer who represented Rajhara Mines FC, concluded with the Andhra Titans lifting the title.

Held at Shahid Veernarayan Stadium in Dallirajahara, Balod district, Chhattisgarh, the 5-a-side tournament ran from December 26 to December 30 and brought together football enthusiasts to celebrate the sport and its enduring legacy.

A Tournament to Remember

The tournament featured eight teams divided into two groups of four, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals. Over five days of intense competition, the players showcased their skills, determination, and love for the game, delighting the spectators.

In the semifinals, Bengal Warriors defeated MOH Boys 2-0, while Andhra Titans edged past Telugu Warriors in a thrilling tie-breaker after a 2-2 draw, winning 3-2. The final saw Andhra Titans emerge victorious against Bengal Warriors, clinching the title in a hard-fought match.

Honoring Late Ganesh Sharma

The tournament was organized by Andhra Samiti to honor the memory of Late Ganesh Sharma, a known figure in the local footballing community and a former player for Rajhara Mines FC.

Words of Inspiration from the Chief Guest

The tournament’s chief guest, Sameer Wankhede, delivered an inspiring message to the attendees. He emphasized the importance of staying away from substance abuse and the transformative power of education and sports.

“I felt very fortunate to visit the distressed and perturbed areas of Chhattisgarh to inspire them to live a Nasha Mukta life. The youth were educated about the ill effects of drugs and how generations are consumed by this silent killer. I motivated them to channel their energy constructively through sports and physical fitness and encouraged them to aspire for civil services to bring positive change to their community and society at large,” he said.

Other dignitaries present at the event included Nagar Police Adhikshak Dr. Shrimati Chitra Verma and Thana Prabhari Inspector Sunil Tirki, who lent their support to the tournament and its noble cause.

A Celebration of Sport and Community

The Super League Rajhara Football Tournament was more than just a competition; it was a celebration of the community’s love for football and a tribute to a local legend. By promoting sports and advocating for a drug-free life, the event successfully united the community and inspired the youth to pursue their dreams.

As the curtains closed, the tournament left behind memories of camaraderie, thrilling matches, and a renewed passion for football in Dallirajahara.
