Syria and Mauritius have confirmed their participation in the Intercontinental Cup 2024, which will be in Hyderabad during the FIFA Window from September 2 to 10, 2024.

Coach Manolo Márquez will be taking charge of the National Team for the competition as his first assignment and will expected to get some positive results. While Syria are placed 93rd in the latest FIFA rankings, Mauritius stand at 179th. The Senior India Men’s Team are currently ranked 124th.

India and Syria have faced off before in the competition, back in 2019 edition. The game had ended in a stalemate after 90 minutes with Narendra Gahlot scoring the goal for India. Meanwhile India hosted Mauritians back in 2017 in the Tri-Nation Series with the Robin Singh and Balwant Singh scoring to secure an edgy win.

This will be the fourth edition of the Intercontinental Cup since the inaugural tournament in 2018, which was held in Mumbai. The other two editions were played in Ahmedabad (2019) and Bhubaneshwar (2023). India emerged champions in 2018 and 2023.
