Iron Born held off table toppers Somaiya FC to a 2-2 draw to keep their playoff chances still in their hands in group B of MFA Super League

The match started off with aggression from both the sides. The first notable occurred when, Iron Born’s jersey no.10 sought out on a mission to score a goal as he received a brilliant pass inside the box, positioned himself comfortably and attempted a well-planned goal but the vigilant keeper of Somaiya thwarted this well-created attempt.

Somaiya launched an attack as well, where 17 and 24 combined together to create a chance for their team, 17 dribbled past the defenders of Iron Born beating them and passed on the ball to 24 creating a promising opportunity in the left wing but the offside call nullified the attempts.

Iron born shifted the momentum towards themselves, when jersey no. 10 received a well-timed pass inside the box, and dribbled it past the defenders, unleashing a powerful shot into the top right corner of the nets beating the goalkeeper, thereby securing the first goal for his team and giving them a lead of 1-0.

Jersey no. 7 then created another chance as he dribbled past the defenders of Somaiya and looked on to pass the ball to someone as he wasn’t positioned well enough to score a goal, finding no one he attempted a shot but missed the target. Somaiya got a free kick where no. 18 took the shot and kicked it on the target only for the keeper to collect it easily. With this the first half concluded as Iron Born maintained a lead of 1-0.

As the second half commenced, Somaiya’s 17 created a brilliant opportunity as he strategically positioned himself in the box, received a pass, and unleashed a powerful and precise shot in the top left corner of the nets, beating the keeper and scoring a goal to equalize the scores 1-1 and relived the pressure off his team.

At the other end, Iron Born’s no. 10 continued to pose the threat, as he dribbled past Somaiya defence, but the keeper thwarted his efforts.

Somaiya then took the lead in the match for the first time when on a counter, jersey no. 7 dribbled past the scattered defense of Iron born, keeper came forward to collect the ball and stop the goal but timely pass to Jersey no. 17sees the latter shoot it into the nets.

However in the final phase of the game, Jersey no. 10 from Iron born once again proved his resilience, as he received a pass, outmaneuvered the defender who tried to stop him and unleashed a goal, equalizing the scores once again. Somaiya created another great chance as they earned a corner and 8’s header was set on the target, seemingly destined for nets but the keeper made an exceptional save, keeping the match equal.

The match concluded in a 2-2 draw as both the teams displayed commendable skills and fight. The results keeps Group B qualification open. While Somaiya F has secured its place, KSA Juniors and Iron Born will fight it out in their final group fixture.
