Mumbai Strikers dominate Atletico FC with a 6-0 second-half blitz
Mumbai Strikers put on a second-half masterclass, smashing Atletico FC 6-0 with six different goal scorers leading the charge .
After Garv Pahuja’s decisive goal secured a hard-fought victory against Rudra FC, Mumbai Strikers showed they weren’t done with just a single goal. In their latest encounter, they dismantled Atletico FC in ruthless fashion, scoring six times in a stunning second-half performance. The game saw six different players finding the back of the net, showcasing the team’s depth and attacking prowess.
The first half remained tightly contested, with Atletico FC’s defense holding firm against the Strikers’ attacks. However, just two minutes into the second half, the breakthrough came. A quick counterattack led by Garv Pahuja saw him deliver a well-timed cross from the left, which found Ram Modye at the edge of the box. Modye expertly placed the ball into the far corner, giving his side a much-needed lead and setting the stage for the goal spree that followed.
Minutes later, the Strikers doubled their lead, this time through their captain Ankush, who struck from just outside the box. After a clearance from Atletico’s defense, Ankush pounced on the loose ball and fired a low shot past a crowd of defenders, making it 2-0.
Abraham Darshan then added a third, capitalizing on a brilliant individual effort from Ankush, who dribbled past defenders down the left wing before cutting the ball back to Darshan inside the penalty area. Darshan calmly slotted it home, pushing the scoreline to 3-0.
Not wanting to miss out on the action, The hero of the previous match, Garv Pahuja, was not to be left out. The academy talent received a well-weighted pass from the skipper Ankush and curled a superb effort into the top corner, putting the Strikers up by four goals. Pahuja’s form has been critical to Mumbai Strikers’ success, and this goal further highlighted growing influence of promoting the academy players and giving them opportunity to shine.
Atletico FC struggled to regroup, but their defense couldn’t withstand the Strikers’ relentless pressure. In the 72nd minute, Ram Dhami, who had been a constant presence in the midfield, scored the fifth goal with a composed finish from the edge of the box after receiving a pass from Abraham Darshan.
To put the icing on the cake, veteran defender Ravish D’Souza rose to the occasion in the 75th minute, heading home from a corner. Armaan’s precise set-piece delivery found D’Souza, who towered above the defense to power the ball into the net, sealing a comprehensive 6-0 victory.
With two wins in two games, Mumbai Strikers have now scored seven goals in their last two matches, moving them to second place in their Super League group. Their next test comes on September 29th against India Rush, where they’ll look to extend their perfect start.
For Atletico FC, the season has started poorly, with three consecutive losses and a series of heavy defeats. They’ll be hoping to bounce back in the next phase of fixtures and salvage their campaign.
