Mumbai Knights dominates MFA Women’s Premier League 2024-25, sets new standards in Mumbai Women’s Football

Mumbai Knights Football Academy has rewritten the history books, emerging as undisputed champions of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) Women’s Premier League 2024-25.

Mumbai Knights Football Academy has rewritten the history books, emerging as undisputed champions of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) Women’s Premier League 2024-25.

Their flawless campaign, featuring 11 wins in 11 games, showcased a level of dominance never seen before in the league’s history. Scoring an astounding 59 goals while conceding only 4, the team set a benchmark for excellence in Mumbai women’s football.

A Season of Records and Recognition

The league, comprising 11 of Mumbai’s top teams, was no match for the Knights’ firepower and defensive solidity. From their opening game, Mumbai Knights set the tone, playing with precision and flair.

Two of their standout players received well-deserved accolades:

  • Pranita Nimkar, who not only marshalled the defense but also contributed 18 goals, was awarded Best Defender of the League.
  • Bhagyashree Dalvi, a relentless force in attack with 14 goals, was named Best Forward of the League.

The Man Behind the Triumph

The mastermind of this historic feat is Preetam Mahadik, who recently took over the club. Known for leading Maharashtra’s beach soccer team to a silver medal at the Daman & Diu Beach Games, Mahadik brought his expertise and vision to Mumbai Knights.

When faced with the challenge of forming a new squad after several key players left for other clubs, Preetam didn’t waver. He built a team from scratch, instilling discipline and confidence during rigorous training sessions, including beach conditioning and five-day-a-week drills.

“It wasn’t just about building a team; it was about creating a family,” Preetam shared. “The hard work and sacrifices over three months have paid off, and this is just the beginning for us.”

Support Behind the Scenes

Running a women’s football club is no small feat, but Preetam had the unwavering support of his close allies, Ronald D’Souza, Imran Kapadia, and Sachin Pagdhare. Together, they ensured that the players had access to top-notch infrastructure, nutrition, and training facilities, enabling them to perform at their peak.

Looking Ahead: IWL and Youth Development

With the MFA Women’s Premier League title under their belt, Mumbai Knights are now eyeing the Indian Women’s League (IWL) 2 qualifiers. The team is determined to secure a place in India’s top-tier women’s football league, with players like Priyanka Sujeesh, who was recently signed by East Bengal, leading the charge.

The club’s ambitions extend beyond the senior team. Mumbai Knights is gearing up for the U14 and U17 leagues, focusing on player development and providing young talent with facilities and a competitive platform.

Setting High Standards for Women’s Football

Under Preetam’s guidance, the Knights aspire to play an attractive and tactical brand of football. “It’s not just about winning; it’s about how we play the game. We aim to set new standards and inspire the next generation of women footballers,” Preetam remarked.

With their recent triumph and clear vision for the future, the Knights are well on their way to becoming a powerhouse in Indian football, inspiring countless young girls to dream big and achieve greatness
