In a stunning turnaround, Om SaiDham orchestrated a remarkable comeback, erasing a 2-goal deficit to secure a 2-2 draw against Somaiya FC in MFA Super League playoff encounter.

In a captivating MFA Super League – playoff round encounter, Om Saidham held Somaiya FC to 2-2 draw with both teams picking their 1st point of play-off campaign. The stars of this resurgence, Tanishq and Alymer, shone brightly, rendering the goals by Shubham and Dhruv for Somaiya FC futile.

In a clash of ambition, Om SaiDham and Somaiya FC entered the playoff battlefield, each hungry for their first victory. Both teams had faltered in their previous encounters, with Somaiya FC succumbing to Mumbai City FC and Bombay Gymkhana, while Om SaiDham faced defeat against IoT. The match unfolded as a tale of two halves, with Somaiya FC dominating the first and Om SaiDham showcasing resilience in the second to thwart Somaiya’s quest for a win.

Somaiya FC dictated the tempo from the onset, finding early success in the 8th minute through the dynamic Shubham Chafe. His effortless run from the left wing, skillfully dribbling past four players, culminated in a spectacular goal into the top bin near the post. The duo of Tanishq and Alymer attempted to equalize, with Tanishq narrowly missing a bicycle kick. However, Somaiya FC extended their lead in the 25th minute courtesy of Dhruv Mane with an electrifying tap-in from a delightful cross from Mandar Palav.

Shubham’s instrumental dribbling posed a threat again, but Om Saidham’s goalkeeper thwarted his efforts in stoppage time of the first half. With a 2-0 lead, Somaiya FC headed into the break, leaving Om Saidham with work to do in the remaining 45 minutes.

The second half witnessed a rejuvenated Om Saidham, wasting no time in reviving the game. Within two minutes, they capitalized on a free-kick, with Mrudul delivering a perfect ball into the 6-yard box. Tanishq stole the show with a half-volley, igniting hopes of a comeback. In the 58th minute, Roger’s crucial pass to Alymer resulted in a precise netting from the latter, as Om SaiDham showcased flawless execution in their pursuit of victory.

Despite their relentless attempts, Jai Patel stood tall as the guardian for Somaiya FC, thwarting Om Saidham’s efforts to secure a comeback.

As the full-time whistle blew, both teams earned a point each. Somaiya FC’s hope for a top-two spot dwindles with just one point from three games, while Om SaiDham remains in contention with three games still left for them.

The Super Div Playoffs promise an intriguing finale as the competition enters its closing stages.
