MFA First Division Playoffs: Match Results Round-Up

The MFA First Division Playoffs began with high-intensity matches at Neville D’Souza Ground on August 6th.

Here’s a detailed look at the outcomes of the first round:

Match 1: Rudra FC vs Don Bosco Academy

Don Bosco Academy dominated the fixture, winning 6-2. Rahul Thorat and Kanishik Chettiar scored early, while Rahul Thorat and Suraj Malik added to the tally in the second half. Rudra FC’s late goals from Rohit Kanojia and Raj Kunder couldn’t save them from defeat.

Match 2: United City FC vs Regal Sports

Regal Sports showcased a commanding performance, winning 5-2. Bhavesh Korlekar’s brace and Raj Mishra’s goal set the tone. Despite Russel Galband’s brace for United City, Mahesh Kanojia and Karan Prajapati sealed the win for Regal Sports

Match 3: Bombay Gymkhana vs South Mumbai United

South Mumbai United stunned Bombay Gymkhana with a 4-2 victory. This unexpected turnaround saw South Mumbai advance to the second round, proving their mettle in the knockout stages.

Match 4: Oscar Foundation vs Waves FC

In a thrilling match that ended 1-1 in regulation time, Waves FC triumphed in an intense penalty shootout, winning 8-7 after 15 penalties.

Match 5: Shastri Nagar FC vs Anstrengung United

This match was postponed due to bad lighting and weather, now scheduled for August 7th at 4:30 PM.

Round 2 Process

Due to the odd number of teams (5) advancing to Round 2, a chit draw will determine which team goes directly to the final. The remaining four teams will compete in the Knockout format, with the winners moving on to the Eliminator. The victor of the Eliminator will then face the team that received the bye in the finals.
