Punjab FC signs Greek defender Dimitrios Chatziisaias
Punjab FC has announced the signing of Greek defender Dimitrios Chatziisaias for the 2023-24 season. The 30-year-old joins Punjab FC having played for clubs in Greece, Turkey, and Belgium.
The Thessaloniki-born defender started his youth career with Omania Stavroupolis. Dimitrios Chatziisaias started his senior career for the Greek club Vataniakos and also played for Glyfada and Chania.
He then moved to Panionis and later to Greek giants PAOK where he spent three seasons. Next, he played for the Turkish club Caykur Rizepor and also in Belgium on loan for Cercle Brugge. His last stint was with Greek club Atromitos where he played 55 matches and scored one goal before signing for Punjab FC.
During his time with PAOK, he won the Greek Cup. Chatziisaias becomes the final foreigner in Punjab FC’s roster and will be a key member of Staikos’s team for the season ahead.
Speaking about the signing, the Football Director of Punjab FC, Nikolaos Topoliatis said, “Dimitrios joins us having played in various countries of Europe, his experience will help to solidify our defense. We look forward to seeing him in action and we are confident that he will play a vital role in the upcoming season.”
