Mumbai Super League: Maharashtra Oranje FC (U23) secures dominant 3-0 win over ICL Youngstars
In a riveting Mumbai Super League encounter, Maharashtra Oranje FC (U23) rode on super sub Vivek Tiwari brace and a goal from Rahul to pick a comprehensive 3-0 victory against ICL Youngstars side.
The first half saw both teams vying for control, with Maharashtra Oranje FC’s Prateek Thakur launching a precise cross towards the far post, only to be thwarted by a well-organized Youngstars defense. Despite several attempts, including a powerful long-range shot from Oranje’s Daksh Malhotra, both teams entered halftime deadlocked at 0-0.
The halftime break proved crucial for Oranje FC as strategic substitutions injected new energy into the team. The breakthrough came early in the second half when Dhrumil Kotak provided a sublime assist to Vivek, who calmly slotted the ball into the net, giving Oranje FC a well-deserved lead.
Oranje FC continued to press, with Kamal and Rahul Unnithan orchestrating plays in the midfield. A clever short corner played to Kamal resulted in a swift pass to Rahul, whose first-time shot narrowly missed the target.
The turning point arrived when Arjun was brought down in the box, earning Oranje FC a penalty. Vivek stepped up and confidently converted, securing his brace and extending Oranje’s lead to 2-0. Vivek’s impact as a super-sub was undeniable.
The game took a twist as an own goal seemed imminent from a Youngstars defender attempting to clear a cross, but the agile keeper prevented disaster. The relentless Oranje FC capitalized on defensive lapses, as Dhrumil provided another crucial assist to Rahul, who hammered home a shot, sealing the victory with a 3-0 scoreline.
Oranje FC dominated the second half, showcasing their attacking prowess and defensive solidity. Arjun had a late chance to add to the tally, but his attempt narrowly missed the target.
The match concluded with Maharashtra Oranje FC’s convincing 3-0 triumph, marking a dominant display and securing vital points in the Mumbai Super League. With strategic substitutions, clinical finishing, and cohesive teamwork, the young lads of Maharashtra Oranje FC demonstrated why they are a force to be reckoned with in the group.
The victory propels Oranje FC up the Group B league table to the fifth position tied on points with four teams all having picked 13 points Oranje FC. With league leaders Iron Born at 15 points the top 2 slot is up for grabs for many teams.
