MFA Elite League Roundup: Millat FC seals top 3 finish, DK Pharma, Rudra FC and Mumbai Knights earn victories

As the MFA Elite Division League is nearing its business end of the season, many teams have secured important wins to earn a better position in the league table.
In the latest round of fixtures, Millat FC defeated Bombay Muslims by 3-1, which sealed the third spot for them. On the other side, DK Pharma, Rudra FC and Mumbai Knights recorded wins against Sellebrity FC, Silver Innings and Mumbai Strikers respectively.
On Thursday, March 2nd, Millat FC secured a comfortable 3-1 victory against Bombay Muslims SC. The win ensured them a top-3 finish and qualification to the Mumbai Football League (Harwood League). Millat FC took the lead in the 23rd minute, through an own goal from Bombay Muslims skipper Hameed Abdul. Wayne Trinidade doubled their advantage in the 25th minute, which gave them a comfortable lead. However, Bombay Muslims pulled one back in the 37th minute, giving them some hope. But, Brijal Possa added a third for Millat in the 39th minute, which eventually gave them all three points from the game.
In the second game on Thursday, DK Pharma thrashed Sellebrity FC by 4-0 in both team’s final fixture of the season. Their Ghanaian forward Eugene Nimako scored an excellent brace with goals coming in the 16th and 50th minutes, while goals from Meitram Singh and Zeeshan Akthar in minutes 32′ and 33′ completed all four of their goals. The win guaranteed them a top 5 finish in the league, with 32 points from 15 games.
On Friday, March 3rd, Rudra FC edged past Silver Innings FC 4-3, in a thriller. Substitute Shreyas Zele opened the scoring in the 42nd minute, giving Rudra FC the lead. Juliyan Koli doubled their lead in the 61st minute, giving them a comfortable advantage over their opponents. However, Utsav Pradhan netted a brilliant brace for Silver Innings, which leveled the score. The team then took the lead in the 79th minute, through Abbubaker Khan. But, Juliyan Koli leveled the score again and completed his brace, in minute 81′. Later on in the 3rd minute of the injury time, Rudra FC were awarded a penalty and it was successfully converted by Sidharth Kamble, which gave his side the all-important three points from the match.
In the second game on Friday, Mumbai Knights FC secured a 2-1 win against Mumbai Strikers FC, in both of the team’s penultimate games of the season. It was Mumbai Strikers who took the lead as early as the third minute. Mumbai Knights equalized, in the 33rd minute through Asharafali Makandar. The Knights then took the lead in the 47th minute, from an own goal by Albins Decruz, which eventually proved to be the winner for them. With just one game left in hand, Mumbai Knights are positioned 6th in the table with 26 points, while Mumbai Strikers are placed 14th in the table with just 4 points.
