MFA Elite Division: Atlanta keep title hopes intact, DK Pharma and Millat FC pick up victories

The MFA Elite Division League continues to entertain with some close and exciting matches recently.

In the latest round of games, title contenders Atlanta FC went up against GMSC, while DK Pharma and Millat FC faced off Bombay Muslim SC and Sellebrity FC respectively. All the matches are played at the Neville D’souza ground in Bandra.

On Sunday, 26 February, Atlanta FC came back from behind to secure a 3-1 victory against GMSC, with all three of their goals coming in the second half. Captain Sudhakar Ranjan put GMSC ahead in the 8th minute and the team held its own in first half. However, Himanshu Patil scored the leveller for Atlanta FC after just 2 minutes into the second half. The skipper then completed their comeback and his brace in the 80th minute, to give his side the lead. Arif Sheikh added a third in the 90th minute, sealing the deal for Atlanta.

On Monday, 27 February, DK Pharma grinded out a 2-1 win against Bombay Muslim SC, with their winner coming late in the injury time. After a goalless first half, Vishal Magre gave Bombay Muslim the lead in the 48th minute. DK Pharma equalized in the 69th minute, through Zeeshan Akthar, who is among the top 5 in the goal-scoring chart. Subsequently, substitute Karthik Rao netted the winner for DK Pharma in the 5th minute of the stoppage time, which gave them all three points from the game.

In the second game on Monday, Millat FC defeated Sellebrity FC 2-1. Bhavish Rao put Millat ahead in the 14th minute of the game. But, Brendon Pires scored the equalizer for Sellebrity in the 48th minute. However, Brijal Possa, who came on as a substitute in the 58th minute, netted the winner for Millat FC, just one minute after entering the field of play The win puts Millat in second place in the league table ahead of Atlanta by a point.
